Particulars on Online Executive MBA Programs

Has it been verified that Executive MBA programs can lead to more lucrative occupational positions for students. Whatever your specific career goals, you can be sure that the Executive MBA can provide a solid boost for you. Going after the degree may be a little more problematic now for many professionals, though, given that they usually have other things on their plate.

You may be able to achieve your career aspirations and attend your current duties through online executive MBA programs. It is of great import that you do a bit of digging into the particulars of this degree before you join the ranks of its students, naturally. What comes now are a few of the most persistent (and fallacious) remarks people make of the degree program.

One often-made assertion is that it is faster and less expensive. Frankly, this is untrue given that most schools charge more or less similar rates for the actual lessons in the two kinds of courses. Even the packages offered by some colleges cannot present major budgetary advantages, at least not if the primary consideration is cost per credit.

Still, there is some truth to the assertions that you can save some money with these courses. Since you won’t be forced to travel to and from campus, you can save money from gas and parking passes as well as pay for expensive meal plans, and room and board. The materials too do not incur added charges because of the fact that they are provided for free online.

The typical number of credit hours asked of students is going to be around the 35 or so mark. Most of these courses ask you to spend two years in university if you take a full-time option. There are a number of options that permit you to get the degree more quickly, though extremely fast, under-one-year options are generally false ones.

The Net-based classes are also said to be easy to do. Earning an online EMBA offers flexibility because students are able to attend classes at their convenience – perhaps during lunch break, after returning home from work or when kids are asleep. That fact hardly justifies the claim that people in the course get ridiculously easy courses.

The truth is that the online MBA is equal in difficulty to the conventional course. You are still required write down notes, compose essays, read books and prepare for exams; you may even have to prepare a thesis for certain programs. People who are not self-motivated even have a harder time, in fact, because they do not know how to deal with a program where no one is prodding them to learn.

That is not to say that online students are entirely isolated because communication is performed via videoconferencing, chat rooms and email. Naturally, these still lack the immediacy of traditional communication. There can be no doubt that only self-motivated people who do not need to depend on others can prosper in these courses.

One more misconception is that all Web-based courses are equal. This is not true at all: they are different. To determine legitimate schools from fraudulent ones, check the school’s accreditation and visit the US Department of Education site if the online school you are eyeing is indeed legit.

Take not that not all schools are listed on the US Department of Education website. If you do not find the program on the Department of Education's archives, go to College Navigator and research the institution and program there. Those with a lot on their plates really can benefit from taking up executive MBA programs.
